Narrow bathroom dilemmas
When faced with a space issue, function has to be the number 1 priority. This narrow bathroom conversion typifies the issues which face owners (or in this case a landlord). The key question is: must this narrow bathroom have a bath? Consider the floor space absorbed by a bath, and recognise how the room will be used, and by whom. This landlord could see that the tenants for this property would benefit greatly from a luxury shower and more space for the sink and toilet.
First of all, we rip out the old suite and evaluate the space to work in. The original position of the toilet, at the window end of the bathroom, didn’t work well. In fact, using the toilet compromised the user and therefore very uncomfortable! By installing a shower the full width of the bathroom in place of the toilet made a great deal of sense. The rectangular shower tray provides more space when used, and leaves plenty of the room for the toilet and sink.
Luxury in small spaces
Keeping with a more luxury feel, a toilet and sink suite not only achieves this but also offers storage space for the tenant. Before the installation of the shower, all waste plumbing works for the sink and toilet needed completing first. The waste pipes pass under the shower tray, using the original route out from the property.
The fitting of the shower and suite was straight forward, thanks to City Plumbing for the product and plans. In a addition, we fitted a new towel rail at the door end of the (now) shower room. The wet area finished in floor to ceiling marble effect tiles which continued behind the suite, midway from the floor. The floor finished by Yorkshire Flooring in Polyflor oak flooring.
Really pleased with this bathroom conversion job, as it leaves the tenant with a far greater user experience.
